At this time, submerged up to the gills with library work and book reviews… hence my short hiatus for several days. I need to catch up with anime as well. >_<… Will be heading to NYCC next, so will post up a personalized review up here, as oppse to my professional reivew. Just words, that’s all.. also now on the look out for a new camera. Heading over to B&H in tomorrow…. back to the post on hand….

Now my question is, very simply – what do you do with the tags on your blogs? I usually have a hard time with tags in my blog, so I forego it, even though on the rare occasion I use it.. but I see so many other people using it…and this is actually of interest for the librarian in me to wonder about this.

Tags are labels, that people can find commonality with.. but what do you do with tags you use, a general mention o f them, or an obscure word, that you seemingly use only once? Take for instance the word One Piece as oppose to the 372 as oppose to the episode count, or 2008 for the year or NYC, as oppose to the location? But then what about tags like Luffy…. or review… or even hate or love?

I think of so many relevant terms, that I find it hard to want to tag a entry, and then have only that one entry with that specific tag… still I shall keep on working on thinking of broader tags to link posts together.. because, then what is the use of a tag cloud then? Especially in a blog like this?

Okay, as I quickly ran into the constraints of real life… and too many things to do… one idea that I am consistently thinking about is signature or tags – I am sure people would know what I am talking about. On forums or emails, they are the poster’s id tag at the ending.

In terms of emails, I have a professional and an anime relevant one. With the personal email, I put up my user handle, and url for this blog. In terms of professional email, I have my real name and some networking sites I am associated with.

On forums, that I infrequently participate with, I have I have photo shop-ed some image, and used that. But if you were not really design oriented – what would be your solution? Also what kind of information would you put, and would you create a quote, banner or image for it?

This topic has been on my mind ever since a class mate asked me what do I like about Japanese culture. I responded to her of liking everything that Japan has to offer… but then, there are so many faucets – so what then? I spoke about this with a co-worker and I was able to write up a ranking list…..

1. Food
2. Anime
3. Music
4. Dramas
5. Manga

Now these are pretty broad categories, and I guess I can try to squash in Video games somewhere, or idols or the Theater things, or fashion… but I kinda always think of these categories when I think of Japan. I guess, if you asked me several years ago, I would have ranked anime and manga much higher, but currently that ranking has changed.

Now then, as a fan for things Japanese – what would be your top five things that you like about Japan and reasons why?

I am staring at this story and wonder if that is the case? I’ll probably ask some of my male anime friends this questions.. would they read shoujo manga as the original post said. If then.. what titles interested them?

Shouldn’t there be an equal readership though..or should it appear that female readers are more open to other genres.. while guys aren’t? Although I can’t help but think of JP’s blog entry on watching Ayashi no Ceres… ealier this month.

Is it also true then Men are From Mars, and Women are from Venus then?

Also trying out “WordPress’s Press This feature” and so far.. seems like it is useful….

Just inhale and breath, that’s how to smoke a cigarette right? Let’s just say this post came about, because of personal frustrations.. and wanting to find a cigarette to maybe appear cooler. Can’t because smoking is bad for one’s health and because it is so expensive to light up one these days. The price they make you pay is definitely not a productive way to even begin, or continue.

I smoked for a very short period during college, and that habit was quashed. The guilt you have to pick up a cigarette and light it is enormous.

Society and people certainly doesn’t promote it well, I received so much mixed messages. You see public ads all over the place, denouncing the consequences of smoking. Yet in anime, there is still those few characters that smoke and for me. It appears cool, in spite of the health hazard it creates. Arggh!!

These are anime characters I see smoking and to make this needless rant, purposeful on this blog.

Non pictured characters I imagine, would include Kenji from Neon Genesis Evangelion, Yuko from xxxHolic, Faye and Spike from Cowboy Bebop, Ryo from City Hunter among other characters. I wonder if there’s any other anime character that fits the bill of smoking and looking so cool.
